Mummy Diaries; My Labour & Delivery

Hello My Lovelies :) x

So I am so happy & excited to announce the birth of my beautiful baby boy.

Max James Peter Duncan.

He was born on Saturday 8th July 2017 at 3.43am.
He weighed 7bl 5 & I was in labour for 14 hours.

He is perfect and I absolutely love him so so much, you don't know the love for someone until you have your very own little bundle of amazingness. So anyway my labour & delivery.
He was 8 days early which was a huge shock as I hadn't had much labour signs at all not even braxon hicks.

On the friday 7th july at night I started getting the braxton hicks so i thought "yes something will happen in the next week or so haha". I went to bed like normal.
The next morning at 8.45am I woke up needing the pee so I got up and did my business. I then went back to bed and at 9.15am Molly came up to me and was being very cuddly which was strange. Then at 9.25am I was sitting in bed with her and I felt a trickle of water and then I went to go to the toilet and then there my waters broke, I couldn't believe it. I remember just saying to stuart I think that was my waters. He didnt believe me haha. I called the hospital and they asked me all the questions, What colour was it? what other symptoms have you had? etc... They told me I had to go down before 3.30pm to be checked over. So once I called the hosptial I called my little brother to get in touch with my mum as she was working and she headed over for the back of 11. After 10.30 the contractions began. They weren't paintful yet and I just remember them being there haha. At around 1.30 I called the hospital again as the contractions were getting stronger and we headed down for 2pm.
When we got to the hospital my midwife took me to my room, she did the checks and I was only 1cm dilated :( which was so annoying haha but I suppose I had just began getting the contractions haha. So she said since my waters were a little green so she wanted me to stay in to be on the safe side. The contractions were still happening at this point so the midwife wanted me to either go for a little walk or I could try the bath in my room which i decided would be best. So I had the bath and was in there for about 3/4 hours or until my next examination. The contractions seem to be getting a little bit stronger. All I can remember is biting my thumb so hard my nail polish came off haha. At my next examination which was at 7ish I was still only 3cm dilated which I was so annoyed at haha. So I got out of the bath and got in the birthing ball and she gave me the gas and air which really helped. It was pretty much the same up until 11pm where I got my 3rd examination and I was still only 5/6 cm dilated and I was so annoyed haha. My next examination was supposed to be at 3.30am but stuart didn't want me staying in the bd which I had done for the past 4 hours which tbh I feel that it was because of me being in the bed that nothing really happened. So he got me out of the bed and bending over the bed and thats when it all kicked off haha. All I remember is the pain being unbareable . And I remember feeling like my contractions were lasting hours but in reality they were only lasting a min and they were just really bad ones haha. I wanted to cry so much haha. From here the gas and air kind of made me feel not with it haha so it is a bit of a blur from here tbh. I remember that i was being examined and they were just about to finish and more water and blood came from me having so hard contractions.  I remember then the head midwife had to put a drip into my hand to get my fluids up. I then remember getting back onto the bed and the contractions just getting worse and longer and more frequent. I then remember my midwife asking me to try go to the toilet which i did but i didnt need so she needed to put a carthertier or something in to make sure there was no fluid. Then I just remember a midwife saying that was my cervix fully dilated and this was only like an hour later so within 2 hours or so I went from 5/6 cm to 10cm. The midwifes were so surprised. I remember this student midwife she was freaking amazing. She kept me so calm. At one point we needed him to turn into the correct position so they had me on my left hand side with a pillow between my legs which was THE WORST pain I have EVER FELT! it was that bad after 20/30 mins I needed a morphine injection as I just couldn't handle the paint. I felt so much more relaxed with the injection it as amazing haha. I could still feel the contractions but I could handle it. and then it felt like I fell asleep for hours which I probably didnt and then all I remember is my midwife saying right just push when your boy tells you too, and this is what I did and after 5 hard pushes he was out and he was just perfect!!!!

Honestly you don't know the pain until you go through it yourself but it was 10000% worth the pain to have my beautiful baby boy. I love him so so much and he is just the perfect little thing ever.

I had to stay in the hospital for a further 12 hours as he did the toilet on the way out so he needed to be checked over and things but he was amazing.

So there my lovelies is a very brief labour story haha as I said at some points I couldn't really remember what happened because of the pain relief haha.

Much Love

xoxo
